Cork Airport, Ireland's fastest growing and most punctual international airport, has scooped the prestigious title of Best Use of Facebook (Airport) at The Moodies awards. The winners of the international Moodie Davitt Digital Awards — covering digital, social media and marketing activities across airports overall, along with airport retail — were revealed today (March 20, 2019).
On winning the award, Head of Communications at Cork Airport, Kevin Cullinane said: “We are delighted to have won Best Use of Facebook (Airport) at The Moodies 2019, recognising the dedication, creativity and hard-work of the Marketing and Communications team at Cork Airport. To be short-listed among the best airports in the world, and to come out on top for our use of Facebook, is a huge accolade.
“Cork Airport is continuing to grow, with 2.6 million passengers forecasted to travel through the airport this year. Staying connected with our wider audience in the digital and social spheres is vitally important to us. Our use of social media is not just to keep our followers updated with practical information from Cork Airport, but also to engage our audience to share their own travel experiences to any of the 52 routes that connect Cork Airport with the UK, Continental Europe and the east coast of the USA. We take pride in our digital media platforms and campaigns and this has shone through with the receipt of this award.”
The Moodie Davitt Report Chief Technology Officer Matt Willey added: “The volume of material we had to sift through to deliver our awards winners list truly reflects the pivotal role that social and digital media now plays across travel-related commercial sectors — and, we believe, the esteem in which The Moodies are held.
