US Ambassador Kevin F. O’Malley today visited Cork Airport where he met the management team and Cork Chamber.

Said Cork Airport Managing Director Niall MacCarthy: “Both Cork Chamber and ourselves were delighted to showcase Cork Airport to Ambassador O’Malley.
“Growing business and tourism links further with the US is a key focus of our business strategy as we bring transatlantic services on board during 2017. We look forward to ongoing further productive engagement in that regard.”
Ambassador O’Malley said it was a pleasure to visit Cork Airport and meet the airport team, as well as Cork Chamber.
“I look forward to new travel and tourism opportunities which offer a gateway to the US and the South of Ireland, and which strengthen our already extraordinary economic partnership.”
Transatlantic services from Cork Airport will commence in May with WOW Air, via Iceland, to nine North American destinations.
It is also expected that Norwegian Air will commence operations in July, with flights from Cork to Boston and New York. Tickets for Norwegian are expected to go on sale towards the end of February. Tickets for WOW Air are already on sale.
