Management at Cork Airport joined Topflight, Ireland’s leading Italian travel specialists, to launch a new summer 2012 service from Cork to Verona in Italy.
To mark the launch, passengers at Cork Airport were treated to a live Opera performance by Darragh McGann, Cork’s answer to Luciano Pavrotti!
The direct service to Verona will begin on May 26th and it’s timely for opera lovers as this year marks the 90th anniversary of the world famous Verona Opera. The festival programme begins on June 22nd and will continue until September 2nd. Performances will include works from world renowned composers including Mozart, Puccini, Verdi and Bizet.
Kevin Cullinane, Marketing Manager, Cork Airport, welcomed the summer service to Verona highlighting its close proximity to the beautiful area of Lake Garda. “The beauty of the direct service from Cork to Verona is that it’s a mere 33kms from the world famous Lake Garda. For opera lovers, the magnificent Verona Opera marks its 90th anniversary this year, making the city an ideal holiday destination”.
The city of Verona is only 33kms from Lake Garda and is easily accessed by bus, train or taxi. Located on the banks of the river Adige, Verona is one of Italy’s most beautiful art and historical cities. Together with a reputation for fantastic Opera performances, the city is also famous for trade fairs, leisures activities, and local restaurants where visitors can enjoy traditional Veronese food.
