The Minister for Transport, Noel Dempsey, yesterday announced the appointment
of Gerry Walsh as the new Chairman of the Cork Airport Authority (CAA) following
the resignation of Joe Gantly earlier this year. Mr Walsh is a former Chief
Executive Officer of An Bord Gáis.
Speaking yesterday, the Minister said: “I am very happy today to announce the
appointment of Gerry Walsh as Chairman of the Cork Airport Authority. Gerry has
an outstanding track record at a senior executive level in business in Ireland
over many years. I know that he will bring the same levels of skill, energy and
enthusiasm that he demonstrated in his previous work to the challenging field of
aviation.”
Minister Dempsey also announced the appointments of Dick Lehane and Annette
McNamara to fill two other vacancies on the board of the Authority.
Mr Lehane is a former CEO of EMC2 in Ovens, County Cork while Ms McNamara is
Assistant Principal of Scoil Muire Gan Smál, Blarney, County Cork.
Minister Dempsey added: “I know that both Mr. Lehane and Ms. McNamara will
bring different skill sets to the work of the board of the CAA and that together

Cork Airport.”
