• lowcostholidays forecast record breaking 2013
• Price still the main focus for cash conscious holiday customers
• 20% of all lowcostholidays Irish customers now departing from Cork Airport
lowcostholidays.ie remain buoyant about the Irish holiday market after the popular online holiday company announced a record breaking start to its first seven weeks of business for 2013. Irish MD Clem Walshe, said, “It’s not easy to forecast with any great certainty in the current climate but the dramatic increase in the levels of both site traffic and early bookings are key indicators that there’s a lot more consumer confidence out there than we initially anticipated.”
The lowcostholidays brand has now become one of the most searched holiday terms in Ireland. Walshe continued “We had a record breaking number of visitors in January and whilst February has seen the customary dip in visitor numbers we’re still looking at coming in well ahead of plan and effectively doubling the amount of traffic we enjoyed last year”.
Reasons quoted for the somewhat unprecedented level of business include an increase in brand awareness and a fast user friendly site with a massive choice of holiday options. But consumer feedback ranked ‘price’ as the main overriding factor as to why they decided to book with lowcostholidays. “Price is still the main consideration for many holiday consumers and the majority of the early bookers cashed in on tempting lead in prices and exclusive sale offers for their well-earned summer getaway to the sun. All inclusive packages are proving to be a very attractive option this year due to the fact they make overseas spend easier to plan, a big plus for families in particular.”
Lanzarote, Algarve, Gran Canaria and The Costa del Sol are the main beach destinations of choice with Cork holiday makers sighting short flights and a wide selection of good value accommodation to choose from as the key factors in the decision making process.
London, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Milan and Paris are proving to be the most popular city break destinations from Cork with Mexico (Cancun), The Dominican Republic and Orlando appealing to customers willing to travel further afield.
lowcostholidays.ie was one of the few Irish travel companies to have launched a major advertising campaign in 2013 and the strategy has proved to be a highly successful move for the online holiday provider. Titled, ‘go on you deserve it’ the campaign encourages people to leave the bad weather behind and get away for a well-earned break in the sun. It featured on all the main advertising channels including online, TV, outdoor, radio & print media.
